eggs

okay, real sister...here i am with your answer about eggs...2 posts in a day is unusual for me, but you need an answer.

i hear you...i used to feel really good when i ate eggs, too, but i found other ways to get that same feeling because i do not want to eat animal foods of any kind.

that said, eggs are the least offensive to your health, when eaten in moderation, which means about once a week. from a health standpoint, eggs offer the most concentrated protein you can imagine, but it is in the form of an unborn chicken, so the body can handle it better than meat. that said, that level of protein can create a lot of trouble for you.

remember that the body wants mostly carbohydrates for fuel, followed by fat using protein for fuel only when it is desperate, which for most of us, isn't that often. the body uses a lot of resources to digest animal protein and over time that can exhaust the kidneys and liver.

so, from a standpoint of the body, eggs are the least offensive, but not at all the health food they are touted to be.

does that help?

I saw your show the other day and you were making "meatballs" using a type of vegan "meat"
After an exhaustive search, I still can't find what you were using. I wanted to give it a try..if you could post what you use that would be awesome!!

Hi Christina ~ I was just getting caught up on your blog. Where on your website can we preorder your Crazy Vegan Life cookbook? I was clicking around and couldn't find it. It's on my Xmas List from hubby. Can't wait to receive it!

Here's a recipe for crisp topping for pies or fruit crisps (8 inch square pan) adapted from your Cran-Apple Crumb Tart: 1 cup, ww pastry flour, 1 cup old-fashioned oats, 1/4 teaspoon portuguese sea salt (Eden), 1/4 cup plus 2 TBSP. olive oil, 1/2 cup brown rice syrup (suzannes-specialties), 1/2 cup toasted walnuts or pecans (optional). Mix it together. Drop by dollops on top of fruit sweetened w/brown rice syrup, cinnamon & nutmeg. I use all organic ingredients. Hope you enjoy it! Bake 350 degrees F until golden brown about 35-45 minutes. PS ... I tried it with the avocado oil. It didn't come out as good so I stick with the EVOO. Non-vegan peeps responded very positively without knowing about the healthier substitutions. I LOVE YOUR RECIPES!!!!

Hi C,
It's Meg. I was just surfing around your site and JUST realized that you have a blog!! I liked your egg explaination. Question: Do you know of any countries where the children are raised completely vegan?

I love your newsletter and I went to read the latest one again and I apparently didn't save it..How can I get another emailed to me? I couldn't find it posted to your website, nor could I find a way to get a copy other than resubscribing. Could you post a way to obtain another?

Thank you!!
Chris

Christina?
Where did you get that idea that supermarket eggs are unborn chickens?
That is completely false!
All supermarket eggs are unfertilized .
Meaning NO BABY CHICKENS!
